Default overheating problem!!!help!!!

sometimes at idle the car start to overheat , but when i start to drive goes back to normal!! i check the radiator and is dry so i put anti-freeze in and runs good for like 3 days and start to overheat again . if im driving lets say for like 15 min. and turn the car off and let it cool 4 like an hour when im going to turn the car on back again i have to crank it couple of times till it turns on and i get the smell of the antifreeze and the motor like looses power then the power comes back again. idont know what could be!!! its getting worse and worse everytime.

please guys give me some help!!! thanks

p.s. ohh and another thing i have is a wird noise coming from the timing belt side sounds like a supercharger sound like i gets louder when i rev.

When was the last timing belt/water pump change?

Things to check with overheating:
1) You have coolant (without oil) and no leaks
2) Your fans are turning on
3) Your thermostat is working properly
4) You have pressure in the system. Even after shutdown

After you check these four things, I would then perform a leakdown test.
4)

That would point towards a bad thermo.

had the same problem. Cheapest way is check radiator, thermostat, water pump. Thats what I did but that wasn't the problem and ended up wasting a bit of money. It was the gasket and I am almost certain you have a blown gasket which can be pricey to replace. I suggest you don't drive on it because when we did my gasket my head was a bit warped because the gasket was burned to basically nothing.

Also unscrew the oil cap and see if you see any coffee looking residue from the oil. If you do it's definitely your head gasket. Hope this helps. Good luck.
