Default overheating issues

so my "super badass" DA decided to overheat today. when im on the highway...no prob. but when i stop like at a light, just like my tach it makes a jump for redline. i havent let it get that high but still. i have to shut it off when i stop. the fan runs at idle. i think its the waterpump does that sound right?

a water pump would show signs of leakage if anything. it might be a thermostat
