overheating
Well i'm kinda curious....My car overheatd the other day, and the weird thing is that usually when it does i turn on the heater and turn it all the way up and my temp will go down. For some odd reason, the other day it didn't. When I did that my temp climbed. Then when i turned off my heater it when down again, but it just kept on jumping up and then going down again. So I'm just kinda curious what it might be. I took out my thermostat and drove my car, and my temp didn't even move...it stayed all the way on the bottom like it wasn't reading the temp at all...any suggestions? should my temp gauge be able to read w/o the thermostat? thanks...
also to test if that was the true problem...look at see what temp your thermostat is set to open at....then you can put your old thermostat in a pan full of water and boil it on the stove...have a thermomiter in the water also...keep watching the thermomiter....if it doesnt open at the temp its soposed to....then that was your problem...thats how i test the thermostat in my race car all the time...
