having a over heating problem that im trying to figure out. when sitting at idle the car starts to over heat. i noticed it tonight when my car started to smoke from under the hood. i quickly turned the car off and popped the hood. noticed antifreeze on some of the hoses and on the ground and on the hood. i looked and i couldnt find where it was leaking from. there was also a slight mist of coolant from what i could tell was around the cap. i have a cxracing rad (ebay) and it came with a cheap looking cap so im thinking that maybe the problem. also my fan all a sudden doesnt come on. its a slim fan that came with the rad and it was working but now its not. also have a 180 t stat so maybe the stock 195 fan switch isnt being activated because of the 180 t stat? could that be a cause. im going to hard wire the fan to the battery to see if it good or not. what other things should i look for for this problem. driving the car its fine but at idle after about 15 it starts to over heat
Your problem is the non working fan, when not moving, "when sitting at idle the car starts to over heat" there is no air flow through rad = over-heating, the thermostat has nothing to do with the ECTS, they work independently of each other.
Either the rad fan is N/G, the ECTS is N/G or there is a wiring problem.
Have you checked the fuse for the rad fan? 94

check to see if the fans are working by direct power, if they're working it could be a fan switch. replace the rad cap and hose down the car, tap off the coolant let the car idle then check for any leaking hose mainly heater hose.
