Default Oil Drain Plug

my damn drain plug and washer are rusted.

what should i replace them with (on a 95 gsr)? would just a 14 mm bolt and 14 mm washer work, or should i buy one that's specifically made to be a drain plug for my car?

also, why does a 17 mm socket fit my plug if it's supposed to be a 14 mm?

the thread pattern on the bolt is 14mm. the head of the bolt is a 17mm

Go to the dealership and buy another, also did you drive over salt or some radioactive chemical to get your drain plug and washer to rust?

If you don't want to spend too much money just get a magnetic plug at Napa or Pepboys. I think they're only a couple of bucks.

Just go buy one from dealer. OEM honda drain bolt doesn't rust. They only charge you $3 or so...... You can call that rip off, but it is only $3

You can get one from your local part store. Ask them to get the ones in the BACK, not those one in packages located on the isle. The ones your buy from your local part store are IDENTICAL to the OEM ones if you get the right one, same goes for radiator drain plugs.
