Need to know the difference about headers.
I got a set of Greddy exhaust system on my LS. Now i want to get a header, but there are 3 different type of headers "ceramic, stainless steel and polish." Oh and there also 2 piece design and 1 piece design. I appreciate for the informations.
well i asume your talking about dc headers. well im not sure what the ceramic does but i assume it allows the header not to be as hot. but dont get a 4-2-1 get a 4-1 which gives you better performance. you should look at the 4-1 mugen replica headers from http://www.jdmshit.com they have thicker flanges than dc headers. they come in one piece but depending on wut car you put them in you might have to cut a notch in the front crossmember.
Does it matter what brand i get? I was thinking since my exhaust is Greddy so i just get a Greddy header. And what quality is best? I'm talking about ceramic or polish or stainless steel.
whether it be ceramic, staniless, or polish it has nothing to do with performance. just cuz its greddy doesnt mean it is a really good header and most likely it is not really that good ive never seen anyone use that header and they probably overpriced it. just take a look at the header on jdmshit.com it is really good im telling you from experience from going DC 4-2-1 to jdmshit 4-1 and it is not that exspensive but if you need the greddy header cuz its greddy then go ahead but when you realize that there are better then you be kicking yourself in the head.
well i guess that's all the info. needed to hear. I probably settle the ceramic, cause i heard some feed back about stainless steel and polish today. That the heat will cause the color to change after you drive for a while. Trying to keep my engine component look nice as possible. Thanks for the info.
another suggestion is if you dont have vtec u may want to consider a 4-2-1.
and if u do have vtec go with the 4-1 header because its meant for more power at higher rpms. someone correct me if im wrong
