Best Carb Legal Header for GS-R?
I was having a hard time deciding whether to buy Edelbrock header vs other header but they are currently discounted. Here are my choice but I know some of them are harder to get. Any opinion on where to buy for cheap?
1. Edelbrock Pro-Flow -Discounted
2. Comptech- Discounted
3. Greddy SUS
4.DC HEADERS 4-2-1

IDK why people are always hesitant to get Edelbrock headers just because they are big in the domestic aftermarket. After all, they do make the best OTS Honda IMs and nobody bats an eye at getting one of those. All those headers seem comparable, but DC does get some negative reviews.
I don't live in Cali, but is a USDM ITR mani CARB legal? If not, you can hide it under a heat shield anyways...

DC 4-2-1 is always a good choice in my opinion. They don't make the most peak power compared to others headers, but they do make consistent gains throughout the powerband. DC also puts a lot of R&D into their products. Many people bash on them because they don't produce insane peak numbers, but power is truly about how you use it, not how much you can make at 8 grand.
Greddy has discontinued their header, but Comptech also makes a decent CARB-legal header.

Re: Best Carb Legal Header for GS-R?
Only on an ITR.
On a GSR, it is not an approved part.
Same with the JDM ITR header under the JDM heat shield.
Only reason to consider an aftermarket header instead of the ITR, is because the header length is different on some years of the GSR. Using the ITR header on those cars would either require modification of the header itself, or relocating the cat (which would require other mods as well).
My opinion on this, staying smog legal in Cali, leave it completely stock or swap to the DC Ceramic header purely for weight savings. Pushing through the stock cat, we're probably only talking about a 1 to 3 hp gain here, so not worth any real hassle over it, or spend very much money.

Re: Best Carb Legal Header for GS-R?
I have no choice, I have to swap out the stock jdm header for some without a o2 bung so I can pass state ref. Greddy still makes header for all type of cars. I really don't want to bother with DC Header because of the fitment and rust they tend to get. If any one know where I can get a set of the header, even dc, please advise?

I have had all of these headers except the edlbrock. I liked the Comptech the best but the greddy was pretty comparable in quality welds, but the primarys were a little smaller. DC was junk and I have heard nothing but good things about the edlbrock. I would just go with whats in your budget.

I would prefer comptech usa headers it worth the money and the 4-1 is the best clearance and it doesn’t bottom out like that dc headers and they always get smash.

Re: Best Carb Legal Header for GS-R?
Just recently. It was probably part of Trust co. filing Chapter 11 :/
They also discontinued their turbo kits for the EG/EJ and DC2/4. No love for the Honda anymore
I have never had a problem with any of my DC headers except once when I bottomed out a 4-1, and that was driver error. No, they're not THE greatest header by any means, but DC actually does put quite a bit of effort into producing headers that actually work. As I stated above, they don't make the most peak power and they're not pretty (so they're not as attractive as other options) but the 4-2-1's make solid, consistent numbers throughout the power band. AND they're CARB legal, that's hard to do.
But on the same note: I agree, the Edelbrock is probably the best choice if you can find one

Re: Best Carb Legal Header for GS-R?
I had a DC 4-1 for about 9 years, stainless steel. Worked great, no issues, ground clearance was good. I sold this header with a SMSP high-flow cat and my Comptech exhaust a few months ago.
With this header on my car I was able to get to 182whp.
Not sure if this helps for a GSR but I also have been running a Greddy SS Header on my Del Sol for 9 years as well. Never any issues.

the edelbrock is a better piece than the DC and has a superior ceramic, it also has a carb number and is 100% cali friendly. the choice between this and DC is basically down to quality vs rice

I'm not sure what a decent price is, but I found this after 2 minutes on Google.
