need help on what to do with my engine!
i have a 94' LS engine with over 128,000 highway miles on the odometer, im am on a tight budget and am very impatient with money (goes right out the window) i already have i/h/e and was wondering what i should do. i would spend alot of money over a period of time on the motor, but to save up is harder for me.
1. should i replace internals and which are most important for longer life?, then do a LS/Vtec
2. " " but get it turbocharged
3. do both
4. do the long wait for a jdm itr swap.......
if you have any other ideas that woiuld help me get power gradually please post them

Yeah. With 128k on the motor, it would be a bad financial decision. There are other things on a car besides the motor that need to be maintained. Things that will still get you from point A to point B. In the long run it's better to start fresh with a new car by saving your money.

why is that? new car ....the rest of the car is in great condition, its the motor im mostly worried about. i brought it to the shop, and they said that the best thing was to go all - motor and just get a jdm itr with under 25,000 miles on it swaped. but ls/vtec came out of there mouths a couple of times ... but if thats not done correctly then my investment would be a waste.

new car=less potential headaches down the road.
SEE. THIS is why I hate opinion posts... ARRGGGG
well if we can only pic from 1-4 i'd have to say the itr swap... u wont have the a high maintence turbo motor, or the worrysome ls/vtec (IMO)... and after that the other engine components (struts, pumps, compressors..ect) should be within ur budget... but overall - new car.. maybe newer car
Booooo New car!
Why is it always everyones first reaction that just cuz a car has over 100k it is a piece?
Isn't the point of tuning a car to replace stock componants with better aftermarket pieces designed for how you want the car to perform? Sooo if you spend less money on the platform, you have more money to spend on parts. Plus learning how to do the install of all the parts yourself is very satisfying and saves you even more money! I say keep the car and get another engine. Build one while the other is in the car, and you will end up with two engines to play with! And just replace other parts (suspension, brakes, tires etc.) with new performance parts when the old ones wear out. That is the way of the tau.

yea perhaps he doesnt wanna go through the hell of selling and buying a new car -- however truth is you cant do much with a car of that age. motor swap would be effective though
What ever you do don't stay with the 128k mile motor and then strap a turbo on it... you'd just be setting yourself up for a big disaster...Running a turbo is like me running my gsr in the upper RPM's all day long, just puts more strain on the engine and depricates the life of the engine...So...So if you stay with this engine stay naturally aspirated..but probably the best thing to do is save up for the swap...cause we all know you don't wanna buy a new car....
When is the "get a new car" phrase most likely to come up? >100miles?
Who's to say what is the right time or mileage for everyone else. Look at it this way, if the repair costs of your car exceeds its value, perhaps its to to get a new(er) car.
I have a 94 GSR with 125,600 miles on it.
I just did a compression test and it read 210-200 psi per cylinder.
Should I go turbo with minimal boost or is this asking for trouble?
I paid $5500 for mine when it had 90,000 miles on it so I don't have too much cash sunk in it.
I do need to replace the tranny - the syncros are a bit worn.
Should I just sell it now and buy a used 911?
