ok i was working on my car for my very first time on my own. i was changing the vtec silenoid seal.... i finished eveything seemed ok until i was screwing the bolts back on.... the bolt on the bottom of the vtec silenoid broke on half.... so half of the bolt is stuck in there how can i take it off any ideas
I've never messed with one. But if you unscrew the rest of the bolts can't you just turn the silinoid and make that just a big screw to at least get it out. Then just take the broken screw out?
if theres enough bolt sticking out, take the solenoid off, then remove broken bolt with vice grips or pliers or w/e. if its too tight to take out with those, use the two nut method: one nut on top of the other, tighten them against eachother but not to the surface of the head, hold the top nut still with a wrench and turn the bottom nut left.
if the bolt is broken off too far within the head, drill and tap, go to sears hardware for new bolt. if its a big enough bolt use an easy out (find at any local hardware shop).
