My 1998 VTi-R (GSR) pics and engine build questions
So...I recently bought a pretty mint one owner VTi-R (I'm in Aus, this is the same as a GSR).
It has done 240,000 Kms, but it has a full Honda service history and still goes very hard. Well looked after and not thrashed.
I am thinking about doing an engine build in the future though (just for the pleasure of the project and horses) and I don't know much about it. If I'm going to rebuild I'm going to do it the best I can; I would like to bore and sleeve and what else...? I definitely want to go NA. I am looking at the following core purchases to start with - what do you guys think, and what other things should I get done?

Very nice! whats the paint code on that?
If i where you i would send out the block and head to a repudable shop like 4 piston and have them give you a package deal on the block and head and they will do the assembly for the block and head and take care of all the lil things like the choice of sleaves to the pistons to the assembly its self and send it back to you, then you can bolt it to your engine stand and assemble the head to the block your self which isnt that hard at all for a novice. Theres some pretty good dvd's on building the B series engine and a few books as well you can find at popular big book stores. Evans tuning has a good write up on building a n.a b series engine for your aid in your first build.

Thanks wunfstgsr It's Adriatic Blue, B74P I think it is. I've got some better pics post cut and polish, I'll put them up soon.
Thanks for the advice - I will leave off buying any bits till I have spoken to an engine shop. There is one in Melbourne call Orger Engines who look very professional:
Orger | The engine reconditioning specialists | Bayswater Victoria
In terms of bolting anything up myself, I'm afraid that is very unlikely! I live in an apartment with shared parking and nowhere to work on her, and my mechanical ability extends to being able to read a dipstick. I am happy to pay for the work to be done professionally.
When I decide to go ahead, I'll speak to the machine shop, get their advice on what internals we should use, and go from there.
Eventually I'd like to upgrade everything from intake to exhaust tip and have it tuned properly. Handling also - strut/sway bars, bushings, Koni Yellows and GC coils (will stay stock cosmetically). I'm planning to keep this one for a long time.

I would just send it to a shop that is known for building honda engines in spesific so my choice would be 4 Piston, send it to them and they have already built engines and or packages you can choose from and they will build it for you the right way so you have that piece of mind compared to a shop thats close or local that you "think" is good.
