Moonroof stuck in vent open position
The moonroof slides back and forth just fine and will fully open. Unfortunately when I try to close it, it doesn't fully close and stays in the vent open position. I have cleaned the rails and lubed them. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem?

Re: Moonroof stuck in vent open position (beastman@)
I had the same problem. Got someone toget inside and open it. As they closed it, I hit the back part (the side of the moonroof that is up). I repeated it until the moonroof closed (usually 3- 4 tries). I don't use it that often any more. I know there is a fix for it. Ill look for it and give you a link if I find it. Now after the fix the problem is it opening. I have to give it a gentle persuasion to get it to pop up. But that is way better then stuck open

I hear ya. Actually the paint is decent. It's the clear coat that's shot.

Re: Moonroof stuck in vent open position (bigkvn77)
I was able to get it closed using the hand crank. However, whenever I open the moonroof it stays open. Right now my two options are to either not open the moonroof or to hand crank it closed every time I use it. Does anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix? I really want to use the moonroof but it's a PITA to hand crank it closed all the time.

Re: Moonroof stuck in vent open position (eilros)
Problem might be gunk in the contacts of the switch. I have to clean mine every 2 or 3 years. Pop the switch out, dismantle it, and then clean/file down the contact points. For some reason that switch gets carbon buildup on it, which makes it not work as well after a while.

I was able to get it to close without any problems. I cleaned the tracks with Q-Tips and sprayed the tracks with silicone. I opened and closed the moonroof 5-6 times and it's been working flawlessly ever since.
