MIL and oil light flashing???
My buddys 98 LS is flashing a check engine light and the oil light. This isn't a consistant flash like you would get when pulling a code from OBD1. It is very random sometimes its a quick blink and some times a steady light. They both flash at the very same time never one before the other. I tried pulling the ECM fuse for ***** and giggles, but that changed nothing. The light seems to stay steady when at idle and begins flashing as soon as you touch the throttle. I thought maybe a type A missfire but I drove it today and it seems to run smooth, no skips or sputters. It doesnt have an drive-ability issues it just flashes the lights. The car has about 138,000 on it and the only aftermarket part is a AEM Cold Air. He told me that he could hear a noise coming from the engine like a rod bearing. I checked into this and it sounds like typicall valve train noise. But he claims that this noise was not there before the lights came on. Alos he said the lights started when he was slowing down and hit a bump. I guess that its. Thanks for the help.

The MIL is just a timer: it should have nothing to do with the oil pressure dummy light. Did you mean CEL light? There are instructions in the FAQ thread for pulling the codes.

I hate to state the obvious, but did you check the oil level? When he hit the bump, he might have hit the oil pan, check for damage or leak. If the pan is bent up into the oil pick-up, there could be an oil restriction. Just giving you some ideas.

Re: (God-Driven)
Sorry I should have been more specific. I checked the obvious **** first. The first thing I thought was that he wacked the oil pan. We had a guy scan it to day and he pulled 3 codes. 2 were O2 sensor problems, and the other one was a EVAP code. The EVAP is normal for this time of year, but not sure why it would throw an O2 code. Anywho, Thats about as far as Ive got. I thank you for the help and keep up the good info. Thanks guys.
