Default malfunction codes

Ok, I tried to see if my 95 gsr was throwing any malfunction codes today. I did everything that i should do, like Have the ignition on the on position and I crossed the black and brown wire together with a paperclip . But didnt get one flash on the check engine light . Can anyone tell me what could possibly be the problem.

Perhaps a list of symptoms at the very least.

no, could that be why? I mean i just wanted to see if it would throw any codes because vtec isnt functioning correctly. But i also found out that my ecu is a p72, and not a p28. Will a 95 gsr perform the same way on a p72 ecu?

is the vtec working at all??

So the check engine light never came on?? Unless you have a stored code then there is no real reason just to check.

heres the thing, I think its the timing , because the skunk2 camgears read that timing is at -4 degrees. never will i mess with the timing because of inexperience but vtec seems to only work really strong in 2nd gear and in 3rd gear, vtec ignites but it doesnt pull. Help me out honda family...

i think your trippin'. if your check engine light is not on, then there wont be a code. and if someone messed with your timing without a dyno, then it could hurt your performance.
