ecu trouble please help
ok when i put a gsr ecu (p72) in my car theres no check engine light but when i floor it when vtec kicks in the car bogs down bad and wont rev any higher but the check engine light still doesnt come on but when the car goes over about 50 miles per hour then the ceck engine light comes on. when i put a chipped p28 in my car theres no check engine light and vtec works perfectly and there are no check engine lights at all. well i want to check my ecu code for the CEL on the gsr ecu but when ever i turn my car off the ecu light goes away the only way i can get it to come back on is if i drive my car about 50 mph then it comes on but i cant check it while the car is idling i dont know what to do....

Have you tried jumping the ECU, even though the light doesn't come on when you restart the car? It should still be stored in there... It might be a knock sensor issue, cause i know the P28 doesn't look for a knock sensor. If you get code 23 then that is your problem (I believe thats the code for KS)

yea i tried jumping it and the check engine light just stayed on it never blinked all it did was just stay on... im hoping its the knock sensor but i cant tell. i did wire the KS up so i dont know why it would be bad... i just need some advice on what to do i cant read the code because the light always goes away after i turn the car off

ok when i use a chipped p28 ecu that doesnt look for knock sensor my car runs fine vtec works perfectly and no bogging down. but when i use a gsr ecu p72 or a chipped p30(delsol) ecu that both look for knock sensor then my car starts boggin down when vtec kicks in and wont rev any higher... but i am confused because my friend that uses his p30 ecu does not have knock sensor hooked up at all and his runs fine. if i could just check my ecu i could figure this out but i cant becasue teh light keeps going away everytime i turn the car off.... any one have any clues???

Thats the only way youll be able to read it, cause every time u turn off the car, u reset the ecu.
Like I said, its happened to me, that I get a code, and then I cant read it after I turn off the car. So, what I do, is pull over right away and check for codes if the engine light came on.
Done it alot of times and my ecu is fine....

Are you running a GSR P72 with a B16? If so, i had the same problem. Im running a p72 with my b16 and it use to throw a knock sensor code when i went over like 90 mph for some reason. Then i could turn the car off, turn it on and it would be gone. I put a V-AFC in the car and it never comes on now. Dont know if that will help ya but it might be a suggestion. I know the B16 hates VTEC hitting at 4500 like the GSR's do.
