when i start my car it comes on...and it used to go off , but now it blinks for liek 10 sec and then goes off ...nebody kno whut could be wrong

 

nothing, reset the light by pushing the button up underneath the dash on the drivers side, it just means its time for an oil change.

 

well tonite i was racing and i shifted from 2nd to 3rd and missed the gear and it revved kinda high if that even matters...but i dun need a oil change for another 500 miles or so

 

its just a general maintaince light, doesnt mean anything is wrong, just goes when there is somthing that NORMALY needs to be done.

yes that is right, if that light ever starts to flash it means either you missed an oil change, or someone forgot to reset the light the last time the oil was changed, it never means anything is wrong.

the maintenence light (not the "oil change light") comes on when schedule maintenence is coming up soon based on miles on the odometer.

if you have only been changing your oil when this light goes on, i hate to see the guy who buys your car eventually

 

tahts not what i mean, i change the oil every 2500-3000 miles, im not an idiot. But i thought "general maintenence" includes oil changes???

No, if you see a check engine light that is a different story, but a maintenence reqd light doesn't mean anything is wrong.

 

nothing to worry about unless you havent done your regularly scheduled maintenance based on the mileage of your vehicle

 

well i just do oil change every 3k miles...whut else should i be doing

If it annoys you, then pull your gauge cluster and remove the bulb.

 

read your owners manual, it has the recommended service for mileage....

 

it comes on every time u hit a certian milage, its just prolly a oil change and if you already have one and got keep your car maintained just hit the button to reset it. No big deal.

 

a little before the light stays on constantly to signal your maintence and whatnot...it will blink about 10 times, like a "just letting you know whats coming up" kinda tihng.

 

just reset it with the little button under the drivers side dash if you just want it gone.

 

the way i see it...the company puts that "reminder" light in there for people who dont know much about cars and start to flip out when they see it, so they bring it in to the dealership and cha-ching...more cash money for the service department...

but like everyone said, just reset it and get keep up with the regular maintenance and u shall be fine...

 

is there any major service that should be done around 20k miles? i know the previous owner had a service check at 15k, when's the next major tuneup besides 30k?

yea the light appears every 3500 miles just incase u forgot that oil change just so it can annoy the crap out of u till u change it
