Default Lsvtec timing help

I have an LS block b18b1 and a B16 head that I want to put together but idk how to rotate the engine by hand. From what I understand you need the block to be at tdc prior to mating the block to the head. How do I rotate the crank from the crank pulley bolt? Especially since it can only rotate counterclockwise which is left?

You put a ratchet on the bolt and you turn it?

Bolt the crank pulley on (or use a stack of washers so the bolt doesn't bottom out) and get it tight enough so the bolt won't come out when you turn it.
