just wanted to ask that if an itr lsd will fit directly to my gsr tranny or will i have to change the ring gear to an itr as well.

 

not sure how to answer your question, but so you can compare, im running an LS original casing with B16 gears and an ITR lsd

 

i have no idea which years get what but my gsr has an s80. to the best of my knowledge s80 is the same tranny the ITR had only it came with an LSD. i've heard this double syncho rumor stuff but never have found anything solid on it between the two. i actually thought about installing an ITR LSD but the install is into places i have never gone. there are write ups on how to install one. might be easier than it looks. maybe someone who's done the install will chime in

 

The ITR diff is a direct replacement for the GSR diff. The 4.4 ring gears are the same as well. The only time you run into issues are if you want to use the JDM 98 spec 4.785 final drive (or an aftermarket 4.9, etc...) in which you need to replace the first gear and a few other components as well. There used to be a great write up on it somewhere here on the board.

 

This is a list of all the trans out there. If your Trans is a S80 it should be simple installing a LSD.

you are the man thanks for those links, i'm reading up. awhile back i remember being told i had the ideal trans for the itr lsd. looked into it & noticed s80 was an itr code. from what i gathered they are the same tranny, just the itr has the lsd from the start.
