shimming itr lsd
I need to measure and shim my itr lsd (Im using the newer bearings)...
But, for whatever reason, I cannot get the housings together, when the main and countershafts are in place. Other people can...but apparently, I am inept
Since I need to pay someone to put them together, I only want to have it done once, and this is job that needs to be done twice...SO:
I was wondering if I could get away with measuring for shims, with the 2 shafts out of the tranny?
Then, once its all measured and properly shimmed, I can install the shafts.
I dont see it being a problem...but I figured I should ask for thoughts, first.

I always shim the diff with the counter and main shafts removed. That way, I don't have to fiddle with getting the casing perfectly aligned over five or six things instead of just two.
If you're shimming the mainshaft, then you can do it with the diff out.
