Quaife and Helical are two of the common brands. But there are more.
Have fun searching.

the ring gear in an LS tranny will not bolt up to an oem type r lsd (unless of course it is a torsion lsd from a b16 tranny which is the only oem lsd that would work in an ls tranny)

assuming its a type r unit you would have to use the final drive out of a gsr or type r transmission to make it work in your ls

as mentioned you could use either a quaife, spoon, or any of the other LSD's made for the b16/LS tranny.

Helical is not a brand of lsd, its a type.... as in helical---which uses gears to transfer power, viscous -- which is fluid based, and clutch type -- uses clutches to transfer power

A helical is a TORSEN differential. I think you're getting torsen mixed with torsion. Torsion is a twisting force. Fluid based lsds are VISCOUS.

well if your stock maybe an lsd isnt made for you but then again maybe its best...but when you start having more horse power ie. 300+whp how the hell do you get that traction put to the ground...and when it comes to the 1320 you want the lsd for both tires to spin for the best effieciency...yeah your tranny might still be spinning both tires but how long will it last before 1 tires starts to spin...

i'd say buy the quaife...

My non lsd ys1 still leaves 2 nice black marks when i burn out, and i beat my friends LSD sentra SER off the line all the time, the funny thing is he complains about traction too lol</TD></TR></TABLE>

i don't really think that an lsd was meant to burn both tires.......perhaps it is for eliminating wheel-spin.
drag racers usually use spools but many use lsd instead, so don't go completely dismissing it as non-functional. yes a LSD is very functionaly in a road-race setting but it will defintely help your launch and 60' times. You don't really have to be making crazy amounts of power for it to help you out........

of all the things i have done to my car it is by far one of my favorites

I've seen situations where people have dropped close to 3 seconds off of their times at some road courses by adding an LSD. Don't think for a second that it doesn't help in drag racing.

Hondas have no torque in the first place so its not like they are gonna be burning out much if you car is lightly modded.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Its the role of the transmission to mutiply engine torque by the gear ratios and apply it to the wheels.
128lb-ft*3.23*4.40 = 1819 lb-ft of torque applied to the wheels in a GSR in 1st gear.

I put an LSD in my car so that it wouldn't "burn out" as easily; I can actually give it gas in first gear on a wet road. It is one of the best mods that I put in my car.
