If you're only shooting for 250whp, why not just turbo the LS? Save yourself the time, money, and headache of trying to build a solid, reliable LS/V. The rotating assembly on the B1's are not mean to rev to the RPM's the B16 head will require to fully use VTEC. Yeah, you get a few extra cc's but you can't wind the motor to where it needs to be and you still have much lower compression than a B16 or B18. Plus, 250whp is relatively easy to attain on a boosted B18B1.

I guess if you're going to build a forged bottom end that you've had balanced to where you need, it's do-able but I don't really see the point in doing the LS/VTEC build then With the amount of money you'd spend on that you could buy a GSR short block and boost to 250whp on that setup easily.

I have no plans of putting a turbo on my car till a year or so after the build. Its going to be just a lsvtec swap for now and if i can get more then 250 whp then im happy. I think for being a DD the lsvtec swap will work until i find another project car. I'm also want something different from the rest of the ppl that drive hondas that are in my town. Everyone around me boost there ls and gsr but that all. I have already purchased the ls block and b16 head so why stop now lol...

Because - in my opinion - the LS/V is an inferior and self-defeating setup logically and mechanically. You're putting a VTEC head on a low compression, low(ish) revving bottom end. Even if you get a custom tune - set the rev limiter at a safe RPM and have VTEC engage earlier than stock - you still have low compression pistons on an NA motor so you're not maximizing the motor on that front. You also won't be fully utilizing the cams. To me, a home-made turbo setup is a much more efficient and cost-effective way to make nice power on a B18B1.

But, at the end of the day it's your car man. You can do what you want. I'm not trying to bash on you or anything, I just want to give you another side of the picture before you make a final decision. If you're dead-set on doing LS/V, then do it. You'll have an experience not matter what happens

thanks man, when i first bought my teg i was going to just build a b18b1 and boost it but then i found out about LS/V and i was set on it....I agree that it can be a self-defeating setup but if done right with a full build on the head and block that i will be able to utilize it. It will just take a good bit of cash and from the sounds of it that the LS/V setup isnt that bad. Every setup have its flaws and problems.
