Btw: It is spelled VTEC.

Turbo works well with an LS.

no matter how you look at you gonna have to put $ in it if you dont want vtec
ther other things you can do, a major engine tunning like higher compression pistons, a larger bore, high lifting cams(poor idle quality),bored out throtle body,
or maybe a turbo set up or nos, all depends on your budget and or what you want but i'm sure you'll end up going vtec.

yeah the best thing to do with your ls is boost, thats the only way to get real power out of it. If you wanna stay all motor, just swap the motor because you said you dont wanna do ls/vtec. An all motor ls is a waste of money.

My son went with a LS build and it runs great. Dynoed at 163 whp and 130 torque with a crappy header and stock TB. Engine rebuilt with ITR pistons and rings with a .020 overbore. Full head with Crower 404 cams. All bolt ons, I/H/E. Runs great and is fast. You may want to consider something like this. With a CAI, larger
TB and a good header, I think it might pull 175 hp or more.

What are your Dyno #'s?

You drop $$$$$, and end up "hanging" with the big boys.

On the flip side if you boosted you would be smoking the big boys... This topic has been discussed over, and over again.

It takes quite of bit to get an LS to STOCK GSR Dyno #'s

Doin great eh?

actually yea i am doin good. odd enuff the motor has 239k on it. belt shud snap. tell me im not doin good with an old crusty motor hangin with vtec engines.and yea im hangin. i beat quite a few and lose to some by a little and everyone where i live is boostin. i wants to be unique and everyone respects it and especially respects my car for how well it runs. and yes its discussed and yea i would love to boost or spray. but im the kind that will take the biggest challenge out there.

zooming out. you can get lighter parts. if you can remove 300 lbs worth, well, ive done a calculation and it comes out to 25hp. well actually more like 24.87hp but whos counting.

i love the integra forum. i feel like a genius in here. all these random comments with absolutely no knowledge. (sarcasm intended)

just out of curiosity, why exactly is it that the t3/t4 should be the turbo that he picks? out of all the different turbo sizes the t3/t4 is optimal? do u know what kind of build he is going with that is going to make the t3/t4 the best turbo for him? do u know where he is gonna want to make the most power and what kind of power? u must know something that i dont

and WTF?!?! wieght translates to horsepower now? i understand that it will make the car faster but u dont wanna tell a noob that if u shed 300 lbs. it will add 25 hp. and also, how did u calculate this exactly?

but to the OP, im gonna answer ur original question. u asked: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by EGgarniEG &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">is there a nice steup to make an ls quick? rather than going ls vtec.

and yes their is alot of thing that can be done to an ls to make it pretty quick. most people are going to recommend turbo because that is the most cost effective way to make power out of a ls. but if u jus want a fairly quick reliable daily driver i would recommend some bolt ons of course (i/h/e), either crower 403's or 404's depending on what pistons u choose to go with. and some b16 or itr pistons. a nice clutch and flywheel upgrade and this car should keep u fairly satisfied for a little while. but dont forget to TUNE! TUNE! TUNE! TUNE!

I agree. I have seen people dyno higher with a lighter flywheel due to the fact that the dyno is accelerating and the reduced rotational inertia is misinterpreted as power in that case.

You can apply moderate boost to keep reliability and produce reasonable HP.

ive seen it also, but thats a flywheel. not like gutting the car.

and i agree on the moderate boost but im just giving him another option, since everyone always says boost it. and if u go with moderate boost chances are eventually u will get tempted and crank up the boost and bad things begin to happen. u cant just make a cam lift higher for longer period of time at the press of a button
