Default leaking cam seal. STR better than OEM replacement?

STR makes one, it says it holds better than the stock ones (which seem to leak easily). should i go for it? b18b1. how hard an install is the came seal? it's the one in front of the distributor towards the front of the car. thanks.

Your stock one should be adequate. Just slab on a lil liquid gasket. It's easy to replace though. Just unbolt that last cam holder tower, and the seal comes right off.

Might as well get the STR since it at least looks nice... I think they are saying it will hold better since it's metal, but I don't know. Either way you go, use some liquid gasket just to be safe. Personally, I'd get the STR.

Speaking of cam seals...does anyone know the procedure for a B18C1 (I'm guessing the C5 is the same)?? Helms makes it look like you have to loosen all the valves to relieve tension on the cam, then basically take the whole freakin' cam out...that's a little more than I'd planned on doing...is there a way around this? I'm gonna keep asking you guys untill i get an answer

i haven't looked in my helm in a while and i just remember off the top of my head for my LS and it wasn't that hard. after taking the valve cover off, you remove one of the cam holder things. i don't know the exact name of it, but it's held in by 2 bolts if i remember correctly. then the old cam seal comes off, replace with new one, then bolt the cam holder thing back and put vavle cover back on. don't forget honda bond on the valve. took about 15mins

Yeah I would recomend the STR cam seal, the factory plastic one sucks thats why its leaking in the first place I replaced mine with STR and not a prob since that was over a year ago, just take the valve cover off and you can see what to do from there, remeber not to over torque the bolts when you put them back on, and dont forget the sealent.

Mine is leaking too. Do you have to replace two cam seals (since there's two cams)?

you only need to replace one, on the intake camshaft its sealed by the distributor housing....
