Just ordered Test pipe
I just ordered a test pipe for my 98 GSR and I wanted to confirm that I had some things correct. I got a 2.25 in test pipe, w/ 1 Oxygen sensor hole. The other sensor is in teh header, right? I think that is all I was unsure about.
BTW, this is going in w/ my new apexi dunk exhaust

Dude, you'll be so happy with that test pipe. It makes a noticeable power gain and plus it sounds cool too if you have a mellow exhaust to begin with. I'v got on on mine and I'd never have anything else now

****, why did I think one was at the end of the header. Are you totally sure, one guy said I had the right one. And yes, it was 35 for the pipe and 10 for shipping. What the hell do I do now..
Well I called them back, fortunately they are 24 hours a day. I talked to the shop guy and he said they hadn't sent out the pipe yet and they could weld on the other o2 sensor hole, no problem. I was relieved to hear that. They said it should be in in about a week. Can't wait to see how it does! I wish I had a new header to go along w/ my exhaust and test pipe
theres ONE on the cat and ONE on the header!!!!! yes you will get a code i had a test pipe made for me... you'll probably get a code thrown at you 25-75 miles after you put it on... its cool and all... but i switched to stock...so cali sheriffs are crackin down... got a $1500 dollar fine for havin a test pipe (luckily my uncle's a sheriff, so i got it written off!)
i was lookin into gettin one but didn't know what would be better for an all motor 95
gsr the 2.25 or the 2.5 and do i have to get a header and exhaust before i put this on or will it bolt up to stock

obd1 has one o2 sensor, before cat, after header (94-95)
obd2 has two, one before cat, & one after.(96-98)
i ordered one about 3mons. ago from testpipe.com,
it has two O2 holes even though i have an obd1-obd2 conversion. i didn't want to unplug 2nd 02 sensor or tie it up.

Why do you guys even both puttin a testpipe on your daily drivers? You know how much pollution is caused from a testpipe? Give it a few weeks and look at your back bumper to find out the hard way. It is really neccessary to have that extra few hp on the streets? I say save it for the tracks, they put the cat on the car for a reason.
Hey youngvedder... What you'll do is have to find out what kinda header and exhaust your gonna run before you get the test pipe. Most headers have a 2.25 exit on them and then if you get an exhaust that's 2.25 ( Comptech or DC, or many other) then you'll get the 2.25 test pipe.
I am not sure what a lot of you guys are talking about. Last night I lifted my car and looked under it and one O2 sensor is at the front of the cat, and one at the rear. NOTHING was connected to the header. Both must be on teh cat unless I am completely retarded. Again I have a 98 GSR, OBDII. Either way if one is actualy on the header, i'll just plug up the first one on the test pipe. No biggy. The reason I am runnin a test pipe is because it cost me 40 dollars, compared to around 200 for a high flow that will probably crap out on me sooner or later. I'll see how the test pipe does, Hell, maybe i'll put the stock cat back on if I don't like it.
i drove my civic for about a year w/ out a cat & a year w/ a high flow. IMO their was not much difference, even soundwise. your stock cat definitely restricks hp & air flow, so why not replace it w/ something benificial. oh yeah, my car is black & doesn't burn oil, gas, or any other chemical too excessively (in other words, it doesn't smoke). where i live there is an over population of domestics. most of them run open pipes from straight from the headers. do you think they have cat cons.? loud isn't the word. and what about the harleys criusing around. i can hear them over my little *** 1.8 at full throttle. i'm just making a point that testpipes actaully seem to help the engine breath better. it's already loud do the fact of the aftermarket exhaust , whty not make it function better.
Awesome, glad to see someone happy I'm investing my money on a good product. I just got a email that said I'm not gonna get it till the 30th! I guess the christmas shipping rush has hit hard. I guess i'll install my exhuast first w/ stock cat then compare it to w/ my test pipe about a week later. Can't Wait!! Thanks for the help.
[QUOTE]noob question here... test pipe replaces the cat right?... is it smog legal cuz dam CA emissions
Yup, test pipe replaces your catalytic converter, totally illegal. In fact, go to any muffler shop as ask them about building you one, and most if not all will tell you they can't build one because they'll be risking 10k in fines if caught. With so many people running these on the streets nowadays, don't be surprised to see the Cops start cracking down and imposing huge a$$ fines on people to make examples out of them.
I tend to agree with others here, use a test pipe were it's intended to be used, on the track. You can get a decent hi flow cat for about $100 and be completely legal so why risk it?
