I just opened my fireball cat back for my 96 GSR Coupe and inspected it's construction and design. I'm very concerned with both. The welds are poor at best (similar to Pace setter quality). The coating on the pipes are chipping in several places. And worst of all, when looking in the exhaust canister, you can see how the tubing gets smaller down to about 1.5 inches. It looks like it has the Apexi N-1's silencer attached deep inside.

I've looked at several Greedy EVO's and N-1's and don't remember anything this shody.

I don't know if I even want to put this thing on my car.

Anyone else notice these things on their Fireball system?

i love my fireball. although it is only the axle back but i've had no problems with it and the sound is great.

I've seen a few, they didn't look that bad if I remember correctly...

Perhaps you got one of the bad apples, try exchanging for a new one??

I bought it mail order. It will be too much to ship back just so they can tell me it meets their quality standards. I think I'm gonna put a few coats of high temp paint on it for protection and in the future, cut the silencer out of the canister.

Ya my Fireball is really nice, the welds are top notch and it looks sweet. I have a cat back and I have never complained.

I got the axle back too, was pretty impressed with the quality/welds. It was pretty comparable to my friends N1.

Hey, The GSR I might buy already has the HKS dragger on it which I love, but I was thinking, keep the HKS piping and put on the 5zigen since I like its look and sound....do you guys know if it will bolt up to the flange right I assume it would?

and do you think this would be cool, or just stick with teh HKS dragger muffler?

it will, but my friend had that same setup. He kept his dragger piping and put a fireball axle back on. Damn it was loud! Louder than a full fireball system, but not annoying.

what about just calling them and explaining you are totally displeased with it's quality. if they are a reputable company they will eat the shipping charges to keep you as a happy and possible future repeat customer.

Something odd just occured to me. The canister has a small tag welded to the bottom of it. It says "SR" and "Jasma" on the tag. The tip says 5zigen but I'm curious about the small chance that this could be a knock off. Does everybody elses have this tag?

BTW the welds on the canister are pretty good. It's the piping that appeares to have welded by a blind helper monkey.
