Jacking up the Car
Well I acquired a set of jack stands and a hydraulic jack over the holidays so today I was going to change my oil, well once I get down there to jack it up it dawned upon me: How the hell can I jack this thing up and put it on the stands when the lifting points on this thing are so small?
Well I managed to get it up on the stands after some near-unsafe lifting and then getting it back down to the ground was scarier than seeing an overly obese woman at a Victoria Secrets store. What have you people done to get your cars up for work? Any little tips/tricks about this I should know about? Any help is very much appreciated.

i jack my car in the front as well....then slip the jack stands under neath. Only thing that scares me is when the jack doesnt roll while its raising my car and it slips! My walmart jack has been doing the job, but i think its time to invest in something that will actually work safely
How do i jack up the whole car? Im scared to... I jacked up the front..then jacked up the back..thoguht the car was going to fall back on me..it was unstable until i got it on stands.
Yeah I'm using a little 2-ton jack. I think I'll have to head down to Sears soon and pick up the SUV jack, damn, I was looking at one of those earlier too. Yes I was jacking it up in the front and getting the stands underneath, but the dumb little wheels on the front of the jack would keep getting in the way of manuevering the stand to where it would sit underneath the lifting point. Why couldn't Honda just made that darn thing about 2 inches longer? Would save alot of hassle. Oh wait, they want you to bring it in to them so they can overcharge on every little maintenence you need. Oh, why didn't I see that all along

man you got a cheap jack , get a 3 ton and you'll know how we do it,lol. i wouldnt ever get under my car with jack... what about your jack stands.. everything i got is 3 ton or more.. even jack stands.. usually i stick my wheels under where im working also .. just in case ya know, if the job requires takin them off.Just taking precaustions ya know.. good luck with the eh..oil change ,lol
I think you are misunderstanding the jack points on the car. You Jack it up from the front (point under the radiator support), than you slide your jackstands under the points behind the front wheels. Real simple and shouldnt be that complicated.
For the rear, use the tow hook as the jack up point and slide teh jack stands under the points in front of the rear wheels.

I've been looking around for some jacks as well, and this thread has gotten me to seriously reconsider looking at 2.25 ton jacks..
Is there a significant difference between 2 vs 2.25? Theres a deal on 3.5 ton jacks for 60bucks.. should i go for that?

There used to be a guy with a webpage (GeeSeR, I think) that had good, detailed pics for jacking up your car. I think his webpage is down/gone. If you don't have one, get a Helms manual. It has the jack points.
For the front, it's really easy, the jack point is centered underneath your front bumper G3 Integras have a mount that I believe has two holes in it. Jack from there and place the jackstands on the sides underneath the rocker moldings.
For the rear, same thing, jack up from the tow hook. Remember to use wheel chalks or a piece of 4x4 wood to prevent your car from rolling. Also, if your car is lowered the easy way to get the jack under the front is to place a 2x4 across the floor and drive up on it so that your front wheels are centered on it, the added height should allow you to get the jack to fit.

from the wording of his post and the complaining that the jack points are too small I think he is misunderstanding the difference between the jack/lifting point that you use the floor jack w/ and the jack points where you place the jack stands...
since he's complaining that the jack points are so small.. I think he is trying to lift it on the side w/ the floor jack AND place the jack stand on the stock jacking points... all using the same jacking point...
what you do is... if your lifting the front.. there is a cup looking part of the front frame on the underside by the radiator... you place your floor jack there and lift the car up via this metal cup... now that the car is lifted up.. you slide your jack stands to the jacking points you would use on your regular stock scissor jack...
so for the front.. use floor jack on front/off center jacking point.. and jack stands on the jacking points behind the front wheels..
for the back.. use floor jack on the rear tow hook to raise the car.. and jack stnads on the stock jacking points in front of the rear wheels...

you need a SUV jack(high lift), i have a chraftsman 3-ton and it lifts to 21 inches, it was like 49 bux i think. sounds like you have a 2-ton jack

that thing is great!
