Do i need to lube the sides of my pistons or the cylinder walls when reinstalling my pistons? i.e with assembly lube.

Just oil. 30W or 10W-30.

Don't ever put assy lube in the bores.

dont even put OIL!! unless you want your car to smoke forever. Leave them dry and the rings will seat and no smoke.

i put a small amount of oil on the top of the piston, then cranked it by hand up and down to coat the walls and such, then got all the excess off the top of the piston. good luck

use nothing, just install, run the **** out of it to set rings for 15-30min, and then oil change it.

I was told to massage (work the oil in with your fingers) the walls with dino-oil before installing the pistons. I kept the walls oiled throughout the rebuilding process. I have had no problems with the engine smoking or anything. FWIW, I used honda 5w30 oil.
