Default idling problem.

i just finished putting my b18c itr motor into my 92 integra gsr. The car starts right up and idles fine, but if you let the car sit and idle it will eventually just die. The idle goes from about 900 rpm down to about 750, then dies. i don't even know where to start.

Sorry it took sooooo long! So here it goes:

Remove the iacv (don't remove the coolant hoses that attach to it, because you can clean it without removing the hoses) and spray some carburetor cleaner into your iacv screen and blow it out with compressed shop air. Your iacv may be dirty as f##k. I have had similar issues, or better yet, I am still sort of having similar issues.

See, the fitv (fast idle thermo valve) will control cold startup such as when the engine is all reved up on cold start. Then the rpm's will drop since the engine is at or near operating temp. This is where the iacv takes control of the show.

You can clean it, and this should make some sort of a difference. If you notice some sort of a difference, then replace the iacv. However, if the engine idles perfectly, just keep the old iacv, because it would be a waste of money to buy a new one if you can get the old one working right. Additionally, if you replace the entire iacv, get one from Honda/Acura parts, and not from a shitty parts store.

I hope this helps!
