idle problem
so about like 3 days ago in shop class i took off my iacv to clean it out cleaned it out good with carb cleaner let it dry then reinstalled it started the car back up and it reved up to bout 3k by itself so i guess it was burning off ne carb cleaner that was lingering in there anyways it started to go back down and b4 i didnt anything it would idle at like 800-1000rpm now it idles at like 1500 and from time to time it bounces up and down. oh and the reason i cleaned it out b4 was because when sitting sometimes it would tac up to like 2k randomly and then it would go back to normal. ne ways my question is what is causing it to do this and can i do to fix it?
thanks.
thanks.
My IACV was doing the same thing, i also had the same idle problem, i cleaned out my old one, and it helped, but i ended up buying a new O.E. from acura, because the one i got from the parts store was messed up when i bought it. I stripped out a bolt on my intake mani putting the new one on, so i am not 100% sure if it fixed it or not. If you figure yours out, please let me know.
IACV, maybe a vacuum leak. Try unplugging the IACV and see what the base idle is set at. If its above 500 or so then you've most likely got a vacuum leak.
Plug....IACV....take the plug off the IACV. Under the assumption that you took it off and cleaned it.....you should know where the IACV is. If you're confusing the FITV with the IACV, then you need to do a little more searching and take the FITV apart and make sure the plunger is tight as well.
FITV - Under throttle body, no electrical connections, 2 coolant hoses.
IACV - Backside of the intake manifold, 1 electrical connection, 2 coolant hoses.

Unplug the electrical connector on bottom of the IACV, the other hoses are just coolant lines, it will probably cause your check engine light to come on. if it isn't already

Yes, exactly, dont take it off, just unplug it (much like you would do to an electrical connection in your house). It will cause a soft CEL which will go away as soon as you plug it back up.

yeah ive got the skunk2 on mine as well i like it all really only downside is that you lose a some low end power but you can really feel the difference when ur in the 7k rpm range.
I wanna do a s2 intake mani, a dc header, and possibly some s2 cams, but i am affraid that my ls- non vtec head won't flow good enough for the cams, and it will end up slowing me down... any suggestions..?
i had the same problem except, when i took it to the shop they said it was the fast idle thermo valve....i replaced that it stop the idle from jumping up and down..now i found out that my iacv is bad....i would check both..
