How hard is it to install headers?
I am getting new a new header install for my gsr. I was wondering how hard will this be? I heard it was a pain in the *** if espececially if you had AC. Any tips or suggestions?
It takes some squezing in.....main thing is to have the right tools. your going to need a bar that can check the torqe of each bolt thats very important so u dont get any exhst leaks.
And remember to get some Loc-tite to keep the old bolts from vibrating out unless you buy new ones ($2 each). The torque specs are 23ft-lbs for the bolts and 31 ft-lbs for the black nuts that go on the bolts from the engine block. I just did it 3 times in the last two weeks. Its easy and takes about 1.5 - 2 hours if you know what you are doing.
it's pretty easy, just get your car up on stands and put the headers in from the bottom up. that's what i did last summer on my gsr, it took maybe 1.5 hours.... but i am slow. good luck.

its a real pain getting off the stock header if you don't have power tools. it took us about 2 hours. its not hard, you just have to remove the heat shield, unbolt everything, then bolt on the new header. take your time and have fun.
This is a fun mod. Just take your time. I do recommend being REALLY REALLY easy on those header bolts! I've heard of nightmares of people snapping 'em.
Torque them easy with a deep socket ratchet. Don't skin your knuckles like I did (battle scars)
Good Luck!

I have a quick question, I'll be installing my Comptech 4-2-1 header saturday, and needed to know if the heat shield can be reinstalled for the aftermarket header or will it not fit??

heat sheilds aren't very useful on headers, it would be hard to attach them and those are so pretty so don't cover them up.
