Default Headers install ?

I am replacing my 4:2:1 headers next week, while browsing for the new header there was a warning saying i need professional installation. What risk am i taking by doing it myself? in other words if i do it myself whats the worst that can happen?

Don't install more than one header. That could really mess things up.

lol kron

what can go wrong?:
snap a stud coming off the block
not have an oxy/ acet torch on hand to get nuts off, particulary the ones attaching the dp to the cat

I did this last weekend with a mechanic friend with a lift and a torch. took about an hour.

You should get a private label header from Kronn, best bang for the buck.

Are you guys kidding? This is like 8 bolts you unscrew and your good. This is not putting in new pistons and rplacing a head gasket. Unbolt all the bolt, bolt in the new headers, and you just saved your self some money from having a mechanic do it now go fill your tank with gas....twice.

Sorta but not really.

Replacing a header is a simple task, but replacing a stock header with another that bolts right in is a complete waste of money. You won't get anything out of it except maybe a little "bling" factor.

When i saw this title i wanted to say the same thing. Beat me to the punch!

There's not much that can go wrong with a regular header replacement, aside from wasting money on Bling. I made the same mistake when I was younger/

You make it seem so easy to install two headers on a 4 cylinder H22.

What do you mean two headers? There is only on set of headers.
And its only bling if you bolt it in and expect 10hp from it, you will probably lose power.
To gain power from bolt on your need to get a nice set of headers, exhuast system and a short ram or cold air intake, then go to honda shop and have them chip your ecu and dyno tune it. When you put these parts on there is more flow and the ECU doesnt read right meaning your losg power, then they tune it and you gain power.

2008 lancer evo got a full exhuast, lost 13hp, then they dyno tuned it and it made 35hp.

nothing counts unless its tuned.

Hey I do all the work to my own car and I still had to get a muffler shop to install the private label header since he had the tools to make getting the slip joints together easy and he also built a custom exhaust to go with it since any cat or test pipe doesn't bolt up to that style of header.

If you're installing a DC, Megan, Mugen, Greddy, ect. header then yes, it's super simple but for something that is really gonna gain you're gonna have to get the help of a muffler shop to mate it to what you have or have them build a new system.

I'll be nice here since i made the same mistake when i first started posting here. We have straight 4 cylinder motors. There is only 1 header/exhaust manifold because all 4 ports are nice and lined up for us. Any V-style motor has two headerS/exhaust manifolds, since the ports are on 2 seperate banks. THUS saying that you put headerS on your Prelude is like saying you ran a true dual exhaust on a Civic. Make sense?

Align the brackets of the factory-installed car stereo with the mounting holes marked“ N” on the side of the Media Center main unit, and use the supplied pan-head screws6 to fasten the brackets.

Makes sense now. But I have never heard anyone correct me like that. Headers are headers, theres are 4 cylinders and a header comes out of each one, thus headers.

No no no. You have it all wrong. A header is the whole unit of 4 tubes. So when you say headers you are saying you have the one unit of tubes, plus more units of tubes.

The "Header" attaches to the "Head"

We only have one head. Not 4. It's a header.

Here's an idea... let's all call it the exhaust manifold and be done with it.

the runners are called runners. one runner is not one header.

wish i listened to you a long time ago Kron... I put on the RMF try y header and my 1/4 times dropped half a sec. i was shocked.

its funny how some things set off the honda gurus, headers, vtech, hard hitting vtec, to name a few.
