Default Hood release problem

My hood won't close. The hood latch lever is stuck in the open position...its as if there is no tension in the visible part of the cable.

I popped the panels off and here is what it looks like

the bottom one is what I think its supposed to look like...is there any way to get tension back?

If you push it will it go over right?

Is so, you could either add a spring or replace the latch. I don't know what car you're talking about, but I have latches from an EG and a DA. Both were fine in the cars they came out of. Like $10 for either shipped, if it'll help you.

oh and that green piece by the latch is cracked in half

I tried it out afterwards, and what happened was the spring doesn't pull back after you pull the lever in the car

i had the same problem. your cable is just sort of stuck. try pushing the lever and tell someone to drop the hood. it should close. just keep doing the same thing if the problem keeps coming up.

Same thing happened to my old EG. I had to replace the cable - it was cracked in the same spot yours is and the cable was stretched. I cleaned the mechanism, put in a new cable, and it was good as new again.

Random question - do you still have that RSX swaybar for sale? I tried PM'ing you but didn't hear back.

as the cables get older they start to stick within the cable housing. You can try an dspray some lubircant in it, but that won't help much and won't last long. I'd just buy a new one. They're only $10 or so. I replaced mine yesterday actually
