Default high revving problem?????

ook on my way home from work when i gave it about 50% throttle in 5th my rpm jumped all the way past 6k...and it did that constantly even in lower gears in the city when i give it that much throttle...i didnt downshift at all and i know the wheels arent spinning...its a little below freezing here and the road is completely dry

also even when i got home (about a 15 minute drive) my temperature gauge was below 25% and it was that way the whole trip home...i didnt let it warm up very long before i left though...could that be the problem?

Sounds like ur clutch could be slipping. Maybe time for a new one. When it does this it just revs like it's in neutral, but ur sure it's in gear?

yea i guarantee you its in gear i was already in gear than i tried to accelerate than the rpm jumps all the way up there...i thought the only way it could be a slipping clutch is if i wasnt completely in gear yet...but i know i was...it doesnt rev like its in neutral it still accelerates but i guess it feels like the wheels are spinning but i know for a fact that they are not

Iam thinking throw out bearing going out on your clutch, it's not letting it engage, making your flywheel spin making your revs fly up...but not moving...my .02 Go get fixed..

The clutch has nothing to do with the transmission being in gear....it being worn out and slipping does have to do with the rise in rpms.

My brother bought a del Sol over the summer, and 2 hours after he got it the clutch went out so bad that you could sit with the engine running, not touch the clutch pedal, put it in gear and the car would not do anything. When we pulled the old clutch it the friction disc was completely toast.
