There is a group buy for hid kits. Go check them out. McCullogh is a Great brand. I have a set on my integra. very.. very nice.. Many advantages over "philips" HID.

The ballast are smaller. I think it has some circuit protection and it turns off if it gets too hot. I have these too. The light output is white even though the blub is blue. I like mine.

sounds like a new brand. but 5000k? i think i'd stick with philips or k2 because of the feedback and personal experience. i guess it wouldn't hurt to try a new brand, but thats not a small amount of money you're spending to ' test ' it out.

???
I am not too fond of a chainsaw company, McCullogh, making HID kits. I'll stick with my Phillips kit. If Phillips started making chainsaws, would you buy one?

Re: HID kits better than Phillips.. (ILUVTEC)
Some guy tried to sell me the McCullogh HID set up, Luckily , I was able to see them on his Integra before I bought them. They looked alright, but too ricey for me, especially compared to the two Phillips kits I have seen. If interested there is a GroupBuy for $399 (this price is waybetter than the McCullogh too) on the Phillips kit. By far a superior HID setup. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=205083

Re: HID kits better than Phillips.. (Christian)
I have seen the McCullochs and like them there are pros and cons to everything
Phillips Taiwan
Phillips bulb modified in Taiwan to copy other systems
Pro - Phillips Modified Taiwan Unit
Con - Bulbs modified has no warranty from Phillips
Con - Substandard connectors which are known to defect

Yah know, by the very fact that it's a blue bulb means it's limiting light output, since the coloring will filter out light within a certain range.

I don't think that the Mccullough HID's are universal.. Meaning that you could only use their bulbs. .. The Phillips kits are nice but I got the HID Plus kit, that uses Hella ballasts. .. Funny thing, I know that Phillips are better but someone had a set of Phillips, say my friend's set on his car ( HID Plus) and is currently buying the HID Plus kit...

Philips & Hella kits are both great, the only problem with people buying the wrong product is having only Philip/Hella ballasts with cheaply made bulbs or wires. (though they are advertised as Philips/Hella kits)... Don't get me wrong, Philips are great but Hella is well known especially in Europe for their lighting products...

The reason the Mculloch kit has smaller ballasts is because they have a two piece igniter and ballast. The Philips ballast is 1 piece.

Philips bulbs are made in Germany. There are many companies modifying the bulbs (rebasing) to create HID kits for vehicles which did not have OEM HID. Most of these companies are US based, not in Taiwan.
If you really want a quality kit. Check out Trevor at http://www.visualdynamics.ca or Assaf at http://www.xenondepot.com or http://www.suvlights.com
All of the kits purchased from these shops are better than the blue coated ricer bulbs that are in that groupbuy. McCullough makes good kits too, but it depends on who is using their components to assemble an HID kit
