Help! Overheated engine now throwing ECU Code 6
95 Integra GS-R. Overheated in traffic the other day, temp gauge never showed overheat, no CEL at the time , no overheat warning light. Only clue was steadily climbing oil temperature. Radiator was run dry due to a hole in the lower rad hose. Hoses replaced, rad refilled, first test drive threw a CEL code 6 (engine coolant temperature)
Cluster temp gauge will not move, aftermarket gauge reads normal operating temp. Reset ECU, tested coolant temp sensor per Helms, and it passed. Voltage from from gauge is reading 5VDC to ground which doesn't sound right. Gauge will not move even when grounded with ignition on.
Is my cluster gauge bad? Stuck thermostat as well? I'm stumped. Any suggestions for further testing or anyone ever have this problem before please comment.

Thermostat no. There was no coolant at the time it overheated. I had checked it the previous week and it was full and green-no oil. No coolant in the oil either, I changed that right after the overheat and hose repair. Apparently the hole in the hose allowed all the fluid to vent out without me knowing about it, probably on the highway at speed earlier in the day. But the warning light never came on and at the time the cluster temp gauge read C, the aftermarket temp gauge read 180. Oil temp went to 300, that was the first indication of a problem.
