i have a 95 gsr and i just finished getting the rebuilt engine back in the car( forged pistons, eagle rods, ferrera valves, springs, retainers, etc...) and when my fields vtec controller turns on with the car i always get a check engine light, but when i leave it off and turn it on after i turn the car on no check engine light comes on, what could be wrong.

 

ur vtec controller could be bad
or u have a short w/ the wiring of ur fields or a loose connection
make sure all connections are crimped titely

 

BTW, i live in va bch too and i would like to check out ur GSR

Stick, isn't that near your old house ?

As for your problem what code are you getting ? That would help narrow down which wire to check. Other than that, re-check your wiring.
