Help with deciding on valve springs for my gsr.........
Ok here is the kick. I have a gsr with 160k in the clock and everything is and was stock when I bought it. Well I am getting some smoke at high rpms. If I am right my valve seals need replacing.Well since I am going to slap a turbo on this thing in the next mo. or so I am thinking of replacing just the valve seals and putting in some new aftermarket valve springs in because I am getting some valve chatter. I guess what I am asking is should I be ok with just replacing the valve springs and seals and keeping the rest shock? I do not plain on going more than 400whp. Any help would be great! Thanks

Your horsepower goals don't really help tell what kind of springs you'll need...
What cams are you running? And, what's the highest rpm the motor will see? If you're still on stock cams and still adhering to the stock redline or less, GSR or ITR valve springs are more than sufficent. The ITR valvetrain is still fine to use on very mild cams as well, so long as you're not spending boat loads of time over 8000 rpm.

Hmmmm well I only want to use my stock cams because you can make great numbers with them on a turbo motor so I guess there will be no need to change them. And for the redline nothing crazy 9k (i dunno) so you are saying I sould be fine with my stock springs and retainers?

If you want a little insurance, throw some ITR valve springs on there. Remember that GSR intake springs = ITR exhaust springs. WHen doe this "chatter" occur? If it is below VTEC, you could have LMAs that are going bad.

9000rpm + stock valvetrain I wouldn't trust for very long. What size is your turbo that you need to run it that high?
