HELP!!! Crank Bolt!
i'm attempting to change the timing belt on my girl's teg, but i can't get the $%^& crank bolt off. i've tried a long breaker bar w/ a pipe, and i've tried 3 impact wrenches (425-450 lbs of torque). Any tips!!? When looking at the bolt, i attempt to loosen it counterclockwise, same way the crank is suppose to turn. Am i doing this right? Because the %^&* bolt won't come loose. I knew it would be a pian to pull off, but i wasn't expecting it to be this hard with the proper tools....thanks in advance.
I think you need a special tool to take it off. I remember in my helms manual looking it up and it looked like a bar the held the outside in place while you fit a ratched in there to loosen it.
Look it up and you will see. Let me know if you need the instructions cause I can probably look them up for you when I get home in like a hour from now.
Post quickly cause I'm gone in like 10 minutes.

I would think since it spins counter clockwise the way to get it off is clockwise right? Check rotation of the nut. I will find out for sure when I get home cause I helped a friend do this to his car and it didnt seem too hard. will get back to you.

ya after cranking 450 pounds I'm thinking you probably broke something. Thats way too much. Might be a little har to get off now. I'm thinking clockwise cause if it loosened counter clockwise wouldnt the force of the crank cause it to loosen?
Righty tight lefty loosey unless something is turning a certaing direction I believe.

Counter clockwise to come off.
Drive the car to a shop with air tools and a strong gun, have them shoot it off for you and than put it back on not as tight as before, than go home and continue on your timing belt change.

There's a special tool that acura uses, I think it's called a hex or something. I used a chain wrench and I let the the lower conterl arm stop the wrench from turning as I broke the bolt loose.
It's called a harmonic balancer holder ... 50mm hex that attached to a breaker bar
