Default Help with a basic(hopefully!) problem with 1995 RS

Well, I just got a new clutch(and axles) installed (OEM) and have broken it in fairly nicely...

That was about two weeks ago, and just a few nights ago i was makin' a U-turn(left) and as the wheel was cranked over I heard a weird metallic sounding pop, and just then a peice of metal bouncing away (ting...ting...ting...).

This was about 50 feet from where i parked, and as i rolled down to a stop the car was making a horrid grinding (metal on metal), and the noise stopped about five feet from where i parked for the night.

In the morning I pulled the car into the garage(no weird noises) and took the wheels off. EVERYTHING looks good... axles, brakes, tie-rods,bushings, suspension etc. After trying to snug everything to spec with a torquer, and everything was good... I went for a test drive.

The car seems the same, braking is fine, sharp turns and all... but during acceleration (in gear, gas pressed... but not between shifts) there is a weird solid squeek (not to loud, but definetly noticable outside the car) up to about 20 MPH.

I am fairly tech savvy with hondas, but I am at my last guess...

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!!!

(Oh yaeh, I used to be on this board as "95lsramair", but i forgot the password and had no secret question... So im not a total newbie)

Thanks alot.

So you didn't go chasing that part that went bouncing away?? Knowing what that was would have been a real useful piece of information.

If you had forgotton something like a cotter pin or some kind of clip, left it to get stuck in your brakes; it should have fallen out a while ago. But that's what it sounds like. Something caught between the brake rotor & the splash shield making a grinding noise.

I guess I'd inspect everything again. Band clamp from a CV joint boot?

I tried to look for the part immediately but it was late and pitch black, the part sounded very small.

All 8 cv clamps are new and intact, as well as all other things that i can see...

The noise is progressivly getting louder... and now it does it as i am slowing from 20-0mph in or out of gear, but not between shifts while accelerating... only in gear.

I guess im going to take it to where i got the clutch done (kind of a friend of a friend at my local Midas) and see if they will look at it for free.

Please dont flame me for the Midas either

How about any of those little clips & shims that go in the brakes?

no change in noise with rpm... now it seems to do it when i am coasting with the clutch in at speeds under 20mph... all break pad shims seem intact... ussually doesnt happen during my first 5-10min of driving... kinda like it needs to warm up?
