Hey guys, im not sure if this has been covered before, but how do you get the headunit out of a 99 GSR?? I'm trying to put an aftermarket one in, and i dont even know if I really need an install kit? Do I? thanks!
I just did mine from a 98 gsr. My advice get the helms online or something. For a cd player install it was kind of a bitch
You will have to take the center consol and the plastic trim peice under the cd player (where shifter is) off.
First unscrew 4 screws holding center consol in (2 on each side).
Then where the Ebrake is take that little panel off to access two more screws.
Should be able to take the center consol out now (watch wires connecting to ebrake)
Pull the ashtray out. There are 2 screws you will have to unscrew in there.
Then unscrew all the other screws on that panel (one on each side at the front).
Should be able to pull that plastic trim peice off.
Now there are 2 small bolts (forget size like 6 or 8mm maybe) that are behind the headunit. You will have to loosen those bolts up.
Unplug the wiring harness and the antenna wire out.
Then you should be able to just pull out the cd player.
Hope that helps.
