Icon6 having problem with a rebuild engine

Hi I have a 95 GS-R. I just recently got it back from a shop I had it fix, basically complete overhaul. although Mechanic said he just bought a new B18C1 engine and put it in.(BALONEY) and the head is a P72-2, before it was P72. To make my story short. I got it back and Heavy white smoke coming out at the Exhaust pipe and check engine light is on. Mechanic told me I have to break it in and the white smoke will be gone...... is it if you have new engine or rebuild engine it s not suppose to have that kind of smoke??? need advice and help

White smoke usually indicates a blown head gasket, but if your last motor was dumping antifreeze into the exhaust from a previous bad head gasket, its probably still burning out traces of antifreeze that was left it the exhaust. Take it for a good drive, don't beat on it keep an eye on the temp gauge to make sure its not over heating. If the white smoke dont go away in a few days then take it back, white smoke has nothing to do with breaking in the engine. Did he say what the cel was?

You spelled balogana wrong. Take it back to the mechanic if the CEL is make him stand behind his work. Another thing that seems fishy is if you asked him to rebuild it why did he replace it instead of rebuilding it?

Mines smoking only when start up.. I think I need a new intake manifold gasket. Stupid shop didn't tighten down none of the bolt it was all hand tighten.... I found out about it after 900 miles trip from rebuild..I then tighten it all up. Seems I might be too late to save it and coolant leak into chamber continues. No vacuume leaks tho, just coolant causing the smoke, I'm praying that is it.

I drove it to San Diego last night to break in the engine, and drove it back to Long Beach it was running pretty smooth, I pop the hood and rev it manually and guess what??? no more white smoke. I will check it again later and update you guys.

I am sorry guys been busy this couple of days.... So anyways I confirmed it no more heavy white smoke. okay 1 problem down, one more to go Check engine OBD1 adaptor needed to read the check engine light..... I been too 8 different auto repair shop and no luck at all... either they want me to live my japanese girl friend at the shop (HECK NO) or pay $117.99 just to check the engine light. so anyways I finally found a place that check it for free... it is the same auto repair shop that I asked long time ago but they do not want to rebuild my engine, anyways I went there they check it boom error code #4 problem in the crankshaft, on the note (CKP) SENSOR CIRCUIT. Error code #23 Knock sensor. So I went back to the shady mechanic for him to check the engine light. he did not even scanned it he just told me knock sensor is the problem, I am like What the FFFF man you could have told me that like in the beginning as#$#ole. but he still did not mention about the Error #4 .

Anyways story of my MAnic Monday. Any advise I mean I already know the 2nd one change the knnock sensor, should I change the Distributo also?

Could your mechanic have run SeaFoam through the engine while "fixing" it? If it didnt finish burning off, it creates a thick, white smoke that eventually subsides
