blown head gasket?
today i noticed thick white smoke coming out of my exaust when i was parked. i reved my engine to 2000rpm and held it there and the smoke stopped. later that day when i parked again and had my engine idle the thick white smoke came back. my engine wasnt over heating, it didnt smell like coolant, and i have no performance problems, could it be a possible blown head gasket or what else could it be??
condensation? cold outside, hot exhaust, I know when mine went bad if i punched the throttle it would smoke, and the more i reved it the more white smoke would come out
good point, doublejz. that could very well be what he is describing. i was thinking more thick white smoke, but then again "thick white smoke" to one person is completely different to another person.
well the white smoke still puffs out at idle. i just dont understand. it only puffs out when the engine is warm and idling. i had my engine run at 2000 rpm when at idle and the smoke goes away but then comes back in about a minute or so. car still runs fine and engine temps still the same. could it be because im running really rich? i checked my spark plugs and the plugs look ok other than the fact that there is some black carbon. (because im running rich) i havent got the chance to do a compression test yet. coolant looks ok. just dont understant. recently my downpipe crscked where the wastegate bolts on to but i dont think that has anything to do with it. thanks for your advices.

is it check your coolant if it's milky white in color or oil milky white in color?

If it kind of blue ish smoke then its ur head gasket. it happend to me drove my car with the head passing for like 2 weeks or so then when u look on your oil cap. see if it has any like stuff brown stuff anything that dosent look like oil. check the dip stick to do the same to it see if it isnt any other color. Take it to a shop or do just wanna fix it yourself?
hey check this out. #1Pull all your plugs and look at them..if some are cleaner then others then its a chance.#2 look down the plug hole and see if the tops of the pistons are clean..#3 take a paper towel while all 4 plugs are out and either rubber band then all to the top of the valvle cover or a buddy hold it down while u crank for a few sec and it water splirts on them then u have ur prob
..if 1 or 2 or more of your plugs and pistsons are cleaner then a mother ****** then u have one for sure...its the best way to clean a motor...u spray a little water with spray bottle in your throttle body while running and bam that bitch is clean takes carbon off like no other because steam is over 500 degrees..my buddy use to do it to his motors before he pulled the head off so they would be perfectly clean...

um i wouldn't really recommend putting water into my engine, i would rather use a carb or choke cleaner, or something that's highly flammable therefore it would burn in case it gets into the motor.
well put it this way...im not saying put a hose on your intake manifold. a spray bottle, its misty but yes u do squirt alot and it doesnt matter it wont hurt crap..y? because when that cylinder fires its going to be way past waters boiling point..water boils at 220 degrees that mini explosion is about 1700 degrees
...evaporation= steam

I had a blown head gasket and my water in the radiator looked like peanut butter. then we opened the oil cap and there was more peanut butter. took the head off and that gasket was toast.
A little water in a motor never hurt anything. It's a lot that does the hurting. When you have a car with a bad head gasket that burns coolant, look at the cylinder that is leaking. Clean huh? Misty good.
And btw, you can hydrolock a motor on fuel, carb cleaner, anything. I've done it...
