I'm wanting to put a mesh on my grill, similar to this

except darker mesh etc. My bumper is shown below, and I was wondering what would I have to do since I have those metal boxes in the grill area and crap. As you can see in the pic below.

Well I was wondering what can I do about those, and would the grill/mesh go behind that? Or over that? I don't want that old lisence plate holder setup thing to be shown, and the lines of metal going downwards either most likely. Would I cut them out or just put the mesh over top? And how would I get it in there and make it stay? Would I have to end up bolting it in or something? Any tips?

The lisence plate holder assembly is easily removed with a few hand tools. That's what I did, and it looks 100% better.

To tell you the truth that pic you have of the mesh looks bad. If you want it to look like that though go to lowes or home depot and get gutter guard mesh(real cheap) and cut it to fit. You can use wire ties to hold it in place. Paint it if you want a different color. I did this on my old S-10 in my valence it looked good. But if I were you I would get the speed grill looks 10 times better

RotoZip or a sharp box cutter will do the job of getting rid of that gay plastic license plate bracket.

Alright but I'm still kinda confused on how I will get it to stay on properly. Should I take my whole bumper off and cut out the little boxes/lines going down, and then put the mesh behind the center horizontal divider line thing, and somehow glue/bolt it on like that, then replace the whole bumper?

What's this 'speed mesh' you are talking about? Where can I find it, any pics, and cost?

I took the bumper off, cut out all of the plastic using a dremel, and put Stucco mesh behind it. The mesh is like $10 for a huge sheet of it at home depot. It might be harder to find now adays as it's not used as much in building.

Anyway, cut the mesh with about a 2 inch overlap all around, and then crimp it over to follow the contour of the inside of the bumper. Depending on how much plastic you remove, you may need to trim off the bottom of the styrofoam behind the bumper. I used hot glue to hold the mesh to the inside of the bumper, and it holds up well. I change the mesh once every other year or so, it's really pretty easy. The horizontal divider does have a tendency to sag once you've cut out the supporting plastic, but I solved that by putting a big screw through the mesh from the inside and hot gluing it to the inside of the divider.

I think this is WAY better of you wanna do any type of grille... costs more, about $100 for the kit but the install is easy and it looks really clean. Best pic I could find..

I did my 93 using black gutter gaurd, it is super low key, super cheap and easy to manipulate.

Yeah I went with Grillecraft like 4 yrs ago. Its black on my green car, so it look clean. The front liscense plate is no biggie-- I havent had mine since except for inspection, but u can still use it--- Overall the install is easy-hardest part is taking front bumper which isnt that bad since i have taken the thing off 6 times
