Default Fuel Pump Problems.

I just recently replaced the crank in my 1992 GS and the fuel pump isn't turning on and gas gauge seems to not be working. Everything else works but this. I have no idea what could have happened , but I know it worked before. Any ideas? thanks. The whole motor was out and all wires and hoses are back in the right places. i don't see how it worked before and now it doesn't. my friends dad said it could be becuase it was sitting in the cold for so lond. It wans't outside but in the garage. Could that be a problem or the relay and how do I check it?

I don't know if the previous owner tried to put in a fuel cutoff switch, because there was a wire that was grounded to the metal bar under the driver's side dash and there are two wires coming off it that goes to nowhere. they don't look factory at all. i have no idea what they are. it just seems wierd it just wouldnt work all of the sudden.

well if you don't hear it priming there are 2 most common causes: no power at the pump, which is realistic based on the fact you just had everything apart, or the pump itself coincidentally took a ****...not to mention relays as another possible failure...but i would start by seeing if you have power at the pump

Well we checked out the main relay and it seemed to be fine. Then we checked the power to the fuel pump and it was there but it seemed to spike and drop. I don't know if it was a bad ground of what. But I just don't see why it would work and then just not. The gas gauge is also not working. I don't know if the problem is related. I hope that didn't go out too. I just find it weird that both go at the same time. I just have no idea what's going on. It sucks though.
