From: Why To Steal My Car, NC, United States Of America
on my recent hatchback i had it for 3 years stock susp except it was slammed on coils, and never had one problem, used same axles car came with from 93, i dont no why you had issues but i never have issues with that you mustve done something wrong, lets not agrue its christmas, so merry christmas everyone!
ok, as far as lowering your car and handling (braking and cornering) axle angle really don't have anything to do with it, but accelaration, and the life of your cv joints, axle angle would play a key role.
as far as drivability, it really depends on your shock/springs comb. a stock shock or stock lenght shocks, can only be lowered so much before it becomes useless, but a shorter shock, you should be able to go a bit lower.
spring rate and shocks will play a role on whether your wheels will rub during braking, cornering.
in the end its all about balance and sacrifice.
if i lower my car abit more , it would probably look better, if i raise it a little bit it would probably drive better, in the end its what are you willing to sacrifice to get what you are looking for.
btw if you really wanted all your components to work together and last the longest, then i recomend just going with a stock itr spring and shock combo. but alot will say its still to high.

nope really roll broke.status. been in for almost two years now.
so from what ive read no skidplates are available because of the headers coming over the oilpan? and with a good shock combination i shouldnt have ride quality issues? ride quality isn't my biggest concern but the supposed axle does seem to pose a little bit of a problem, which leads to my next question. some people notch their frame to get even lower and so they take away the problem of the axle hitting the subframe...any one ever done this?
thanks again for the help and hope everyone had a good christmas

if you ever get to the point of your axle hitting your frame, the body would probably be scrapping first. and defenetly the upper A arms have gone through the shock tower housing.

the problems you are talking about arent due to only ride height, as you mentioned it has alot to do with the spring rates
if you have a properly matched spring rate and shock and your not riding on the bump stop it is alot better, also the higher you have the car the more of a sweet spot you will have on the shock
the best ways to improve handling are
tires
bushings
swaybars
cage
shocks
springs</TD></TR></TABLE>
I agree its just that you'll see a lot of folks have stiff *** spring rates but since they are so low it makes no difference because there isn't enough shock travel.
I also think that many people fail to realize is that softer spring rates are not neccessarily bad. I've seen a few people who only daily drive their cars with 12k front ad 14k rear.

specially for daily driving, stiff springs are terrible.
i find that the car would bounce over bumps on the road (to a point that it affects handling), and switching to softer springs imporved that.
btw, your shock valving should be able to match or handle the spring rates, too

Alright I agree w/ all you guys.. threes function than threes form... now in my case I've went threw 3 different set ups till i found the right one... but its whatever the individual likes, some like it slammed to the ground but that mean in my case I cant have another person in my car w/o tires rubbing.. oh well! integras went made for having passengers, that's why I use friends landrover if we go out! lol
When I first started looking into suspension, i wanted function over form, but than I didn't like the wheel gap so I changed my mind and now I'm slammed! but I got the best of both worlds cuz now I have Koni and GC, the best!
examples of my function than form...
first set up was AGX and H&R Sport-looked great but to rough of a ride for me..

than I got Prokit from a friend and I reused the Agx's, loved the handling but way to high for my tastes(btw those are my winter shoes , don't make fun of them!)

Finally I got fed up w/ the wheel gap and got Koni and GC(custom rated to prokit spring rates) I can drop it a lil more but I don't like the tire tuck look

But cause it's winter right now, I'm probably going to raise it up a lil bit and have a figure gap, just like that white jdm front teg picture. than slam it in summer! haha
