f*ck'd header install...??
i just got a new header for my car... so i'm workin on it for like 2 minutes after i take off the heat shield... i went to take off the nut on the far left bolt. the nut came off real easy and i thought, wow this wd40 really works. what actually happened was that the bolt broke off with the nut. i was wondering was... is this really easy to fix or can i just go without this bolt? i have not tried to take off any of the other bolts as it is already late. will there be any problems with leaks? or am i just f*ck'd?
btw... my car is a 94 LS... and i've never touched the header before, and i don't know if the previous owner ever had any work done dealing with the header and over torqued it. my car was from the beach so most of the things under my car are rusted and this may have contributed as well.

i dont think it will be a big issue driving around for a few days w.o. that nut/bolt. however, what you should do is drill it out youself or have a mechanic do it for you and have it replaced. how long did you wait for the wd40 to soak in??
a new gasket would be a a good idea too; only $15 from acura.

i already got a new gasket... and the wd40 was soaked in for a few hours... but the thing is i didn't even really try to loosen the nut; it pretty much came off as soon a i put the wrench on it, which led me to suspect that the header may have been over torqued and that bolt was already broken.
That happens more times than you think. I've known plenty of people with 1 or 2 broken or missing bolt/studs. It wont leak or anything. you should be fine unless all of them break off or something.
did the whole bolt come off, or is there still a piece in there? if the whole thing came off then buy a new one, if part of it is stuck in there then it'll be **** hard to get it out. give us a pic if you can
sorry.. i don't have my digi cam on me right now... my bro has it cause someone just broke into his house... anyhow, only some of the bolt broke off. i can see some of it slightly sticking out past the bracket part of the header. i'm just hoping that the rest of the bolts don't see the same fate.
i broke the same 1 and it leaked bad, it made the gasket flap around and it sounded like a vw bug.

thanks, very helpful. so after i tap it out i should just use the si bolts? do i need to go to the honda dealer for that or can i get those anywhere? sorry, i have never done this before and i want to make sure i don't run into anymore problems... (highly unlikely because something always has to go wrong) and my studs stick out way more than those ones in the pics... maybe i can just try to get it out without that extractor?

i was also looking at this pic and i noticed that most of those studs have been replaced but maybe 1.

would this be what those si studs look like?

which way do the studs turn to take them out? i think one of those links said reverse, but either way i try seems to make it stuck... please help...
was it a bolt or a stud? if its a bolt, buy a new bolt if it was a stud buy a new stud, but if you can get a good grip on it with a wrench you can possible screw the rest out. it happened to me i did it. (righ is tight , left is lose, when your looking at it)

thanks, this will be important when i go and fix it. for the moment i just decided to reuse the broken stud. i got a good couple turns on there with the correct torque. hopefully that can hold for a while until i can get a replacemnt stud.
just curious though. what keeps the stud in the head when loosening the nuts if left is loose as well?

i snapped a bolt and the *** of the bolt was stuck in the head of the motor.. it had to be drilled and re tapped...
edit: oh yea im talking about one of the header bolts.
