Engine shutoff while driving
Driving through my town at about 35 in my 92 DA, I shift into 4 and the engine just dies. When i tried to restart it, the engine was turning over, but not starting. So im thinking it may be a fuel problem, or spark maybe? Was hoping some of you guys could help me out here. Oh, everything motor wise is stock. Thanks

Check to see if your ignition harness is shot. If your headlights and radio still work, but your windows and wipers do not, it's the ignition harness (goes from key cylinder down to the under-dash fuse box). Had the same thing happen to me, that's why I say to check it. My car would turn over but not start.
I don't think that being in fourth gear has any thing to do with it.
You might want to use a multi-meter and check your battery. It should show about 12 volts +or- a few volts is ok.

the fact that it still cranks tells me that his battery is just fine.
When my ignition harness fried, nothing wired to the ON key position would work. Anything wired on the Accessory position (like radio) or hard wired like lights, would still work. Also the Start position still worked so my engine would still crank, but it would die immediately because there was no spark and the fuel pressure (fuel pump and distributor are both wired to the On key position).
At the time, my sunroof was open, so I had to hold my key in the Start position and crank the engine for several seconds while holding the sunroof switch to get it closed.
I would check this first as it's the easiest thing to check, even easier than checking the main relay.

i drive a 1990 DA and i had the same problem.... after searching relentlessly on H-T for answers, i finally found out. sorry i dont have the link but i can almost guarantee it is your main fuel relay. try starting the car after like an hour or two. mine started right up and then after shutting it off again, it had trouble starting again. every now and then it wouldnt start but would crank over like it didnt have any fuel. I purchased a new main relay and WaaaLaaa! just my opinion and i highly suggest checking that out before getting to involved under the hood.
the main relay is located under the kick panel to the left of the steering column. should be like a 3 inch x 3 inch brown relay that has a wire harness cliped into it. might also have the word "mitsuba" or "main fuel relay" printed right on it!
hope my description helped a little bit

Thanks alot guys for the replies. Ive been busy so im gonna get to it asap. My windows and sunroof did work while in the on position, so i guess its not the ignition harness. The only times i tried starting it was right after, and about a half hour after. So ill give it some more time and try again and also check out the main relay. How much did that run you egboostin?

hope not, or he would have bent all the valves by now by cranking it over.

Well let me tell you my problem. 4 years ago I was driving on the freeway about 70 miles an hour when my engine just shut off. I pulled over to the side and tried to start it. It only cranked. Waited awhile then started it back up again then it started and drove straight to my local mechanic.
He mentioned that it was the Ignitor. He replaced that and cap and rotor. Since then I had no problem in the engine shutting off.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunatly, this is exactly what happened
. The 4 times i cranked the engine was 4 times to many. The motor has 220k, and my buddy has another b18 for me with low miles, so i think im just gonna have that motor put in.
