dumb problems with brakes
whenever my brakes get super hot it feels like the pads are grinding or there are no pads at all, i have no feel on the pedal if you know what i mean. what do you think that is? after the car sits for a while and the brakes cool down, the brakes go back to normal. i think it might be the pads or maybe the fluid. the pads may not be high enough temp pads? i don't know
Your saying that when you brake really hard for a while and the brakes heat up, then their effectiveness is reduced? I don't see why your brakes being hot would change anything? Can anyone explain this?
Thats how oem brakes are when they are glazed/"warped"... or just high mileage and you try to use them like racing brakes.
For a cheap fix... get some powerslots for 100 bucks and some "Wagner ThermoQuiet" pads. They will perform well when cold and during daily driving, but if you break them in properly for a few days they will suffice for some racing also without the problems you are talking about.
Trust me, I was in your EXACT SAME boat 6 months ago and now only $130 later it stops great.

Yea take a wheel off and feel your rotor. If it feels really smooth like it has nothing for the pad to hold to, then get some new rotors and pads. Install on both is really really easy. So DIY if you can.

the EBC pads are excellent street pads. I ran the red stuff pads in the front with the ebd slotted and dimpled rotors and green stuff in the rear with brembo rotors. 'Twas a healthy combo of superior initial bite and long lasting grip without fade.
If you need a more aggressive setup, I suggest what I had above. If you need something a little more mild, just get the green stuff all the way around.

do the red stuffs still work when they're cold? what about the yellowstuffs? also how long do they last on average? i don't really care about brake dust either. what are the prices in relation to others, ebc doesn't list prices on their site or can i just not find them? thanks.
