buddys to lazy to post but he got a 99 ls n taillights are all out. headlights work.. brake lights work turn signals work but nighttime running lights do not.. he checked the fuses and changed the switch on the column and changed the bulbs.,.any ideas on where to go next ??

 

take a voltage meter to the connectors in the back. if you have voltage there is something with the taillights. if there is not, then check voltage on the fuse and then every place on the wire where there is a connector in between. find out where the voltage stops and then you should be able to determine what is bad and what isnt.

First off, you need to relax.

1) Do the front parking lights work?
2) Download a Helm manual by searching google for "hondahookup manuals"
3) Get a multimeter.
4) Check the combination switch output
5) Check the relay (cannot remember if it has one, hence the manual.
6) Is there an alarm on this vehicle, that could affect the parking lights.

If everyone can quit comparing their E-dicks for a moment, there was a legit question asked and a legit answer posted. A multimeter can be picked up for less than $10. It's just going to take a while to trace and test all of the wires.

 

I had a similar problem in my DA. I would hit a hard bump in the road (with my shitty old suspension) and all my taillights and guage cluster lights would go out, but my brake lights would work. Come to find out, the connector for the switch to turn the lights on in the steering column was loose...

a little di-electric grease later, it was all working again hope that helps

I have 600 posts in 1 1/2 years. I wouldn't call that a large amount by any means. I have 2 ASE certifications, I work P/T as a tech, and full time as a Service Writer. I make $60k per year, and I'm only 22. I can rebuild a Honda engine in about 4-5 hours and have it back in(minus machine work) and driving down the road. I think I know a little something about cars. How much have you learned working the "Fry-Ilator" at McDonalds, because with your intelligence(or the lack there of) I doubt you can work anywhere else.
