my DA has been messin up lately...it runs fine at low RPMs but when I crack down on the gas and hit around 4k or 5k it will start backfiring and missin and the needle on the tach will go crazy....and sometimes after it does that it will either shutoff or the check engine light will come on and it wont rev past 3,500 RPM...i looked at my distributor and it looks like the rotor button is burnt but i want you guy's opinion so please help if you can i appreciate it.

its ur distributor...my EF hatch did that on my b16..i had to replace the dizzy

 

Yep, it's the distributor.

 

i have a 90 ls and mine did that for a week or so, i changed the o2 sensor and the problem went away. not to say thats what it is, but.... its a cheaper fix than a dizzy.
