Hey guys, I just bought a 93 integra two door about 2 months ago, and just recently as the weather started getting cold around here the heater stopped functioning. At times it would turn on if i hit bump or gunned it, im thinking it's the thermostat just need a second opinion please. AC wasn't working when i bought it probably just needs to be recharged...
If the heater only turns on whe nyou hit a bump or gun it. its not your thermostat. Also look it your temp guage on your car gets up to operating temp fine. that will also tell you your thermostat is good. Your problem is most likely a loose wire connection. That is why when you hit a bump or gun it the heater turns on. Find the wiring diagrams either on here or online do searches for it. For the HVAC wiring diagrams. Look for the common ground first.
You can also check the heater valve operation to see if it is opening and allowing hot coolant into your heater core. Your heater valve is located in the engine bay where the heater hoses meet the firewall.
If your only talking about the blower fan, then shoot some PB blaster into the small hose at the bottom of your blower motor, it will stink for a day or two, but will lube the bearings enough for the blower to run for another year or so.
